Shannon W. McFayden has invested over 25 years in helping leaders and organizations drive results. Now a highly respected consultant and executive coach, Shannon is known for her expertise in leadership effectiveness, communications, talent management and organizational culture. As a C-Suite executive for a Fortune 100 company, she provided leadership for Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Community Relations, Marketing and Merger Integration.
As Head of Human Resources & Corporate Relations for Wachovia Corporation, the nation's 4th largest financial institution in 2008, with $764 billion in assets and 120,000 employees globally, she reported directly to the CEO and was a member of the company's Operating Committee. In addition to her full-time executive responsibilities, she also provided leadership for several corporate initiatives, including Merger Integration, the creation of the company's Vision and Values, a three- year Expense Reduction Program (resulting in a $1 billion annual run-rate reduction), and the
Company's diversity efforts.
She also served as Senior Staff to the Board's Management Resources and Compensation Committee. In addition, she led the creation of the Company's Talent Assessment and Succession Planning process, and with the CEO, reported to the full Board of Directors annually on this process.
Named as one of the "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking" by US Banker, Shannon has also been recognized with the United Negro College Fund's "Maya Angelou Women Who Lead" Award, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund's "Award of Excellence", and the Dress for Success "Paradigm Award".
Shannon also has extensive leadership experience in the community. Currently she serves on the Boards of Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte Country Day School, Levine Museum of the New South and Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation. She also chairs the Charlotte region for Teach For America. Previously she served on the Boards of United Negro College Fund, Community School of the Arts, Charlotte Mecklenburg Education Foundation, Child Care Resources (Chair), the Capital Campaign Planning Board (Chair) and KinderMourn (Chair). She also received a Mayoral Appointment as an Equal Opportunity Commissioner in Jacksonville, Florida.
Currently an Executive in Residence with the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte, Shannon graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Davidson College.
